This exhibition catalog was designed for the joint exhibition of Carolina Ponte and Pedro Varela, two artists whose works occupy the same space while maintaining distinct visual languages and individual narratives. The editorial concept translated this relationship directly into the physical structure of the publication through a reversible format featuring two independent covers and dual entry points, allowing the catalog to function simultaneously as two separate publications within a single printed object.
The project uses the center of the book as a symbolic meeting point, reflecting the curatorial dialogue between the artists — described throughout the exhibition as “the river and the cloud.” The editorial structure reinforces ideas of coexistence, exchange, and mutual influence while preserving each artist’s autonomy and visual identity.
The graphic design focused on rhythm, orientation, and spatial continuity, creating a reading experience that mirrors the exhibition itself. Typography, image sequencing, negative space, and page transitions were carefully orchestrated to guide the viewer through two parallel visual narratives that gradually converge. The result is an editorial object that transforms print design into an extension of the curatorial concept, exploring the relationship between form, space, and artistic dialogue.
